The athletic program at Valwood School is student-centered and an integral part of the student’s total educational experience. The program is designed to provide positive learning opportunities for each student who participates. Students benefit from the development of physical fitness, leadership, teamwork, social skills, self-discipline and integrity. Athletic participation also promotes decision-making skills, good citizenship, good sportsmanship, and maturity. These characteristics assist in the development of individual and team attitudes that are beneficial for a successful season and for future life.
In order to be certified eligible to participate in GISA athletic and academic competition, each year Valwood student-athletes in grades 8-12 must have a on file with the school prior to the first day of classes.
In addition, Valwood students in grades 5 through 7 are also required to have an annual Physical Evaluation on file. This ensures that all of our students have physician approval to participate in Junior Pro or Middle School sports programs. Fourth grades students may be required to provide a Physical Evaluation if they elect to represent Valwood in a community youth sports league.
Physical Evaluations should be completed annually during the summer months and submitted to the Administrative office in Crane Hall prior to the start of school each August. This timeline allows us to have required documentation in hand prior to fall sports pre-season conditioning and practices and ensures accurate eligibility certification.
We invite you to explore Valwood through our website, but the best way to learn more about our school’s mission and approach is to visit us. We hold admissions coffee-and-tour sessions monthly where you will learn about our curriculum and extracurricular programs, and you will also be able to see first-hand our beautifully designed, state-of-the-art facilities.
